Synecdoche, New York

After receiving a genius grant, theater director Caden Cotard embarks on creating a play of brutal honesty. He constructs a massive replica of New York City in a warehouse, casting actors to play out mundane lives, including his own. As years pass, his health fails and his personal relationships crumble. The lines between his magnum opus and his deteriorating reality blur into a complex, surreal exploration of life, love, and mortality.
