The Dope Years: The Story of Latasha Harlins

This film revisits the tragic murder of 15 year old Latasha Harlins by a Korean convenience store owner in South LA. Through interviews with friends and family, it explores her life, the racial tensions of the era, the perceived injustice of the verdict, and how her death, alongside the Rodney King beating, became a flashpoint for the explosive 1992 Los Angeles riots. It is a poignant examination of racism, community, and the memory of a life cut short.
