Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ

Judah Ben-Hur, a wealthy Jewish prince in Roman-occupied Jerusalem, is betrayed by his childhood friend, the Roman officer Messala. Falsely accused of a crime, Ben-Hur is sentenced to life as a galley slave, and his mother and sister are imprisoned. After years of suffering, he earns his freedom and becomes a champion chariot racer. He returns home seeking vengeance against Messala, in a journey of personal retribution that intersects with the life and crucifixion of Christ.
