Following the Footsteps of Father Kino

The northwest of the New Spain, was not only the most arid and inhospitable area of the nation but was also inhabited by highly aggressive tribes, making any colonization attempt impossible. It was not until 1687 that an Italian missionary named Eusebio Chinus (later known as Kino) managed to enter such an aggressive territory, succeeding in pacifying and coexisting with the tribes through a novel system of peacemaking.
