Liliom

Liliom, a charismatic but troubled Budapest carnival barker, marries the naive servant girl Julie. Desperate to provide for their unborn child, he joins his friend Buzzard in a robbery attempt. When the heist fails, Liliom takes his own life to evade capture. He awakens in a celestial waiting room and is sentenced to ten years of purification before being granted one day back on Earth to see his daughter, now a young girl, and perform a good deed for his redemption.
