Sita Sings the Blues

This unique animated film interweaves the ancient Hindu epic of the Ramayana with a contemporary personal narrative. The story of the goddess Sita, her exile with Lord Rama, her abduction, and her trials of faithfulness is told through various animation styles. This epic tale is juxtaposed with the director's own painful breakup, creating a poignant and humorous exploration of love, betrayal, and devotion, all set to the jazz and blues vocals of 1920s singer Annette Hanshaw.
