After moving to a struggling fishing town with his widowed mother, nine year old Oscar, who is non verbal, feels isolated and is bullied. He stumbles into a repair shop and forms an unlikely friendship with its elderly owner, Eric. Through the lens of a camera and Eric's mentorship, Oscar learns to express himself.
