In Mexico City, a spirited café owner battles a wealthy impresario who wants to steal his star dancer and his spotlight. Music, color, and comedy fill this early Technicolor short as love and rivalry erupt on stage and in the heart. La Cucaracha won the first Academy Award for Best Live Action Short in Color.
