La ronde

In 1900s Vienna, a master of ceremonies guides us through a 'merry-go-round' of ten amorous, and often adulterous, encounters. From a prostitute to a soldier, a chambermaid to a poet, and up the social ladder, each character has a brief affair before moving on to the next partner in the chain. This classic episodic film, based on a controversial play, creates a witty and cynical look at sexuality, desire, and social hypocrisy, all captured with elegant, flowing camerawork.
