Where I Come From

Mambi, a young girl living with her widowed father, uncovers his gambling addiction and growing debts. When creditors threaten David, he abandons her to deal with the crisis alone. Undeterred, Mambi enters street games to win money, aiming to pay off the debts and find her father. Although local drunk Pa Dan urges her to pursue education, Mambi creates an alter ego, Mbassi, to cope. Ultimately, she embraces her love of learning, saves for school, and works to repair her relationship with David.
