Winds of the Wasteland

John Wayne stars in this Republic Pictures western about the final days of the Pony Express. Former rider John Blair (Wayne) enters a coach race to win a 25,000 government mail contract, but there are dozens of obstacles in his path. The rest of the cast includes Lane Chandler and Phyllis Fraser, plus Lew Kelly (Lady of Burlesque) doing a great comic turn as Rocky O'Brien, the eccentric, self-proclaimed "mayor" of a deserted mining town.
