The Chronicles of Melanie

Chronicles of Melanie, based on Mel?nija Vanaga's memoirs, details the 1941 mass deportation of over 17,000 Latvians to Siberia under Stalin's rule. Melanie, suspected of collaborating with the enemy, is forcibly separated from her husband Aleksandrs and son Andrejs when Soviet troops invade their home. They endure a harrowing 3-week journey in cattle cars with minimal food and water, facing brutal conditions before being exiled to Siberia.
