Buffalo Boy

Set on Vietnam's southern coast during the 1940s French occupation, young Kim, 15, leaves home to lead his family's starving buffalo inland during the floods. On this coming-of-age journey he witnesses injustice, violence, and poverty, works for a herder tied to his parents' past, and forms friendships that help him discover his place in the world.
